Follow-up on MONUC report

Just a quick word on the refugee returns – I checked with a UNHCR report to find out how many of the 50,000 Congolese (mostly Tutsi) refugees in Rwanda come from this area – there are 400 who say they are from Bafuna groupement, the small administrative division where the massacres took place. Of course, there may be others who weren’t registered properly and the area where the massacre took place is on the border with other groupements where several thousand Tutsi refugees are from. But it serves as an indication of the level of panic that these issues can elicit.
